Transience
(n) The state or fact of lasting only for a short time.
Daniel's work series explores the ephemeral nature of life and the gradual fading of love, beauty and memories. He creates these works of art by using 35mm photographic film and manipulating the aging process with only natural resources such as heat, sunlight, moisture, lemons, soil, fungi and more. The entire creative process takes about 3-6 months. In this body of work, Daniel uses both vintage film taken by unknown people as well as his own photographs. His „destructive“ acts of manipulating the film give the images new life, full of unique textures, colors and stories that are distinct from the originals. Despite the alterations, there is still a common thread between them. The aging process is all natural and analog – nothing is done digitally and the images are not retouched afterwards. This creates a unique visual experience, one that evokes a deeper understanding of the fragility of life and the fading of beauty and memories.
